Editorial practices in gender equality
The Revista de Investigación Educativa is committed to gender policies. This commitment is reflected in several fundamental actions.
a) Editorial participation
More than 40% of the editorial committee is made up of women.
b) Inclusive language
The Revista de Investigación Educativa is committed to the use of inclusive language in articles that promotes gender equality in science and takes into account the presence and situation of women in society. In this sense, it is advisable to replace the use of the generic masculine to designate all the people in a class or group with terms of generic value, to use explanatory phrases or, when none of the above is possible, to use split formulas. Since January 2023, an internal commission has been supervising the application of these guidelines.
c) Sex and gender in research
Research articles should avoid stereotypes and gender biases that adopt the masculine as a universal referent, exacerbate biological differences or naturalize socially constructed differences. Likewise, it is recommended to consider the sex variable in any type of research, reflecting the sex composition of the study samples as well as analyzing possible differences and disaggregating results by sex. In this regard, it is recommended to consult the manual: Gender in research.
d) Identification of authorship
Revista de Investigación Educativa provides the full names of the authors of the works it publishes, avoiding the use of initials, particles or abbreviations. This practice contributes to a fairer and more transparent representation in scientific production.
e) Participation in peer review
Participation of more than 40% of women in peer review.
