Authorship and contributions policy
La Revista de Investigación Educativa (RIE) considers it essential to guarantee an ethical, fair and transparent allocation of authorship in the papers it publishes. To be listed as an author, one must have participated substantially in the development of the study. This contribution may be related to the conception and design of the research, the collection or analysis of data, the writing of the manuscript or its critical review. In addition, each signatory must approve the final version submitted and assume shared responsibility for the content of the article.
From May 15, 2025, it will be mandatory for multi-authored works to specify the individual contributions of each signatory using the CRediT taxonomy (Contributor Roles Taxonomy). This system allows for a clear description of the different types of participation, such as the conceptualization of the study, the development of the methodology, the formal analysis, the writing of the original draft, the obtaining of funding or the supervision of the research team. This information will be included as part of the submission, through the letter of authorship, available in the section: submissions.
Any change in authorship —whether in the number, order of appearance or inclusion/exclusion of signatories— must be notified before the manuscript is accepted. Such a request must be duly justified and have the explicit consent of all persons involved. Once the article has been accepted, no changes in authorship will be allowed except in exceptional cases duly authorized by the editorial committee.
Each work must have a person designated as the corresponding author, who will be in charge of managing communication with the journal throughout the editorial process and ensuring that the entire team has been informed and is satisfied with the final content.
All these requirements and statements are already integrated into the authorship letter, so that by completing it, the authors will be complying with the provisions of this policy.
