Abstract

The Bangor Dyslexia Test is acknowledged to be an adequate tool for screening dyslexia in school children who are native speakers of English or other languages in which the Bangor Dyslexia Test is available (German, Greek, Japanese and Malay). In this paper, the results are presented of the adaptation and validation of the test in three Iberian Romance languages (Spanish, Galician and Catalan), conducted with a sample of 739 subjects aged 7 to 15 (355 dyslexics, 57 children with a report of literacy difficulties but no mention of the construct dyslexia, and 327 subjects without difficulties in written language). The results suggest that the Spanish, Galician and Catalan versions of the Bangor Dyslexia Test are valid screening tools.
