Abstract

In this study we adapted the Premarital Personal And Relation-ship Evaluation Inventory (PREPARE; Olson, 1999) with Spanish pre-marital couples (n = 1575). A series of factor analyses (LISREL 8.52) confirmed the twenty-factor solution proposed by the author. Internal consistency and test-retest reliability were adequate, except for a few sub-scales. A typological analysis was also conducted to classify Spanish pre-marital couples into different types. The results were compared with the U.S. norms described in Fowers and Olson’s study (1992) to delineate the compatibility and possible cultural differences between the two popula-tions.
