Diagnosis of emotional competences: an empiric study carried out in the school of education of La Coruña
Abstract
In this empirical study an instrument for diagnosing the perception of emotional competences in first year university students (n = 571) studying any of the degree programmes in the School of Education at the University of La Coruña (Spain) is validated. The instrument is a Likert scale of 4 points. The levels of internal reliability (Cronbach’s alpha = .765) and the validity of the constructo (KMO= .0758) are quite acceptable.Depending on the results of factor analysis, a model of 10 factors are proposed explaining almost 60% of the information. Subsequently, multiple regression analyses are carried out to reduce this model to 5predictors (60, 7% of the explanation of the dependent variable). Finally, we applied a discriminant analysis to establish the differentiating capability of factors (M of Box =307,102 and p= .001).Downloads
