Abstract

The article analyses access to school management in infant, primary and secondary schools in Galicia, Catalonia and the Basque Country. The research carried out jointly with a thousand headmasters and headmistresses makes a critical and contrasted assessment of the situation of management teams after the promulgation of the Organic Education Law (LOE, 2006). Among other aspects, it will take a look at the recruitment procedure laid down in the law, the lack of candidates, the constitution and cohesion of management team, difficulties involved in the job and aspects linked to training management candidates in state schools. Finally, some conclusions are explained which have been derived from the research.
