Relationship between university programmes for senior citizens, satisfaction levels during retirement and quality of life
Abstract
The objective of this paper is to ascertain the importance of life learning as an element of for achieving a successful ageing using the Elders’s Living Conditions Survey (2006) We estimate a bivariate probit model between satisfaction during retirement and participation in third age university programs and a bivariate ordered probit between the Quality of Life Scale previously defined and participation. Conditioned on participating, we observe an increase in the probability of satisfaction and the probability of enjoying good (very good) quality of life. For those who live alone, these probabilities increase when they participate, but decrease otherwise. Although women make the majority of participants, men experiment a higher increase in satisfaction and in quality of life when they participate.Downloads
