Abstract

Virtual campuses are omnipresent in Higher Education, being used both in traditional universities and in distance education universities as an essential resource for teaching. Learning platforms have appended various technological extensions (electronic databases, document management, video conferencing, video streaming, extensions for mobile devices, digital repositories, and others). Moreover, they have been integrated into the systems of university academic management. Although the introduction of technology in university classrooms is an indisputable and undeniable fact, innovation in the teaching - learning process is still slow, but it is a necessary process. So, this monograph of RED Journal presents experiences and current challenges of the virtual campuses, presented at the IV International Conference on Virtual Campuses in Palma de Mallorca on January 14th-15th , 2014.
