Abstract

While there have been communities since man exists, the presence and influence of digital networks multiply the opportunities to overcome time-space limits. These social gatherings that arise when people of similar interests meet in cyberspace offer opportunities to learn with and from others along a continuum along formal, non-formal and informal education. The aim of this study, part of a wider research based on Delphi method, is to define conceptually and characterize learning cybercommunities for teacher training –in closer outlook to the proposed concept of communities of practice than to that of the learning- community movement– to distinguish the principles and strategies that form the basis of learning cybercommunity and, finally, the tools and functionalities that support the birth and life of those communities.
