About the Journal
Antigüedad y Cristianismo is a scientific journal with an international scope, specializing in Late Antiquity and published annually by the University of Murcia. Founded in 1984 by Professor Antonino González Blanco, over the decades it has avoided synthetic or merely descriptive works and has welcomed a wide variety of monographs, articles, news, and contributions of original and scientific character in all fields related to Late Antiquity (material culture, literary sources, mentality, historiography, news repertoire, book reviews, among others). This broad scope has not prevented the journal from addressing research focused on specific geographical areas, treating historical aspects in their regional manifestations without lowering the scientific standards required for original and innovative contributions, as opposed to mere reworkings or syntheses. Truthfulness and honesty are the most valued traits for Antigüedad y Cristianismo, which is why its work guidelines are strictly based on serious and scientific research methodology.
This journal is open to all methodological approaches and perspectives that pass the editorial board's review, encouraging applicants to propose a general or monographic theme to serve as a conceptual and thematic framework for submitted originals. The hallmark of the journal’s editorial line is the pursuit of original, unpublished, clear, and concise works that offer new, professional, and methodologically sound contributions that are significant in the field of Late Antiquity studies.

Focus and Scope
The journal Antigüedad y Cristianismo aims to publish original studies and research on Late Antiquity, in any discipline addressing it, to disseminate knowledge to both researchers and newcomers to the field, as well as to the general public. It is open to contributions from authors unaffiliated with the publishing institution, in any of the following languages: Spanish, English, French, German, Portuguese, or Italian.
Annual periodicity
Manuscripts must be submitted by December 31 of each year, though earlier submission is recommended to allow time for peer review and editing processes for publication by mid-year.
Peer Review Process
The review consists of three phases:
-
Phase 1: Verification that the work is original, unpublished, has not been previously published or submitted elsewhere, and contains no form of plagiarism.
-
Phase 2: Focused on format and style (expressions, citations, references, etc.), carried out by the journal editors to ensure compliance with formal aspects.
-
Phase 3: Scientific peer review (following the designated evaluation template).
The peer review system for original articles is external and double-blind (the author does not know the reviewers, and vice versa); it is an anonymous review conducted by at least two experts in the article's topic. In case of controversy, a third reviewer will be consulted, who will decide on the article’s quality and whether it should be published. Reviewers are selected from among top specialists, nationally or internationally. The review process may take up to six months (especially with multiple review rounds).
Anti-Plagiarism Policy
The journal Antigüedad y Cristianismo guarantees the originality of all manuscripts using Turnitin anti-plagiarism software. This policy ensures originality and detects matches and similarities between submitted texts and those already published in other sources. If plagiarism is detected, the manuscript will be rejected for publication.
