La pervivencia del paganismo en el reinado de Honorio (395-423 d.C.)
Abstract
En ocasiones resulta difícil liablar de una desaparición o de una pervi vencí a del paganismo'". Es posible que a fines del siglo IV y principios del V, paganismo y cristianismo se aproximaran en un proceso de sincretismo y en una vision similar del cosmos y sus acontecimientos. El primero había evolucionado hacia un monoteísmo de carácter solar. Aureliano y el filósofo neoplatónico Porfirio abrieron esa ruta en la que influyó el concepto de una monarquía universal y de derecho divino. El teólogo de Constantino, Eusebio de Cesarea, defendía la imagen de u n emperador como reflejo de Dios. Dios señalaba al Emperador las leyes sagradas y éste las imponía a la masa de los fieles creyentes. (...)
