Abstract

This paper analyzes the organizational implications for higher education institutions of the widespread adoption of open educational practices. Based on a critical analysis of Wiley and Hilton’s model, the author discusses how open education implies the development of new institutional business models and governance. Finally, the paper presents the foundations of a new deconstructive organizational model that would assure greater institutional flexibility to external challenges and more friendly to an open innovation culture.
