Abstract

E-Learning is nowadays a growing modality of education due to the flexibility in the use of diverse contents and learner’s profiles. The number of e-learning platforms increases day by day, and the specification of a standard metadata set which enables the identification and description of learning objects has been defined in order to automatically reuse them in different platforms. Although standard enables the definition of a learning object in terms of its form and content, it does not point out any cognitive ability that plays a roll in the use of the learning object or that can be consider as a basic prerrequiste for the learner who uses it. In this paper the cognitive abilities are identified and classified. It aims at the integration of those both in learning object standard and learning information profile metadata, enabling a more accurate automatic selection of the learning object, independently of the kind of student who uses it.
