Abstract

We present a research study focused into two different aspects; the achievement of professional competences in graduate students in journalism at Universitat Abat Oliba (UAO), together with the importance that they concede to several aspects related to an employment. We extract data from the Reflex Report of ANECA entitled, 'The flexible professional in the Information Society' stablishing its comparison with our own sources obtained from the graduate students in journalism at UAO. We also reflect empirical evidence of different levels of professional competence performance from last academic year graduate students in journalism from the old program (named 'licenciatura') This research study has been launched with a long-term vocation based on two main objectives; first, to become a parameter of quality learning in journalism in education at UAO, and second, to explore the different levels of divergence and convergence between the graduate students coming from the old journalism program and those others from the new one based on the european university reform. Therefore, we will be able to internally asses or monitor UAO in order to find out its real state of the art in terms of evolution to the new framework.
