Research datasets
Antigüedad y Cristianismo, in its commitment to the advancement of Open Science, firmly supports the practice of depositing research data sets. This position aligns with current policies, mandates, and initiatives that underscore the intrinsic value of scientific data, as well as the importance of ensuring their accessibility, sharing, and reuse. Any institutional action aimed at this purpose thus acquires strategic and significant relevance.
The journal strongly recommends that the data derived from the research underpinning the articles be deposited in reputable repositories, preferably those specialized in the corresponding discipline, although the use of generalist repositories is also acceptable. In all cases, the selected repository must comply with the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable), thereby ensuring the discoverability, accessibility, and interoperability of the data without restrictions, and favoring their availability through open access.
At present, there exist numerous repositories designed for the preservation and dissemination of specific types of data, such as the results of surveys, observations, interviews, simulations, automatically collected data, samples, models, among others. In this regard, Antigüedad y Cristianismo maintains a dedicated section within the institutional repository of the University of Murcia (DIGITUM), which constitutes its own infrastructure for the publication and preservation of these data sets. Authors are required to provide these data so that the editorial board may proceed with their deposit prior to the publication of the article, without this restricting the possibility of simultaneously depositing such files in other repositories deemed appropriate by the researchers.
Additionally, the Library of the University of Murcia has developed a specific guide aimed at assisting in the proper preparation and publication of data sets. This guide must be consulted and followed by authors during the preparation of their data, and adherence to it is a prerequisite for the manuscript's evaluation, as the data sets must be submitted along with the original text for review by the journal.
