MOSAICOS SIRIOS DE LA COLECCIÓN VILLA REAL, MADRID
Abstract
El Hotel Villa Real de Madrid exhibe en sus salones una colección de mosaicos sirios, cuyo conocimiento no ha entrado en los circuitos científicos del tema. Proceden todos ellos de Siria, sin que hayamos podido determinar el lugar exacto. El Hotel ha publicado un catálogo con estas piezas, titulado La Colección de Arte y Arqueología del Villa Real. Escultura. Cerámica. Mosaico, Madrid 1998, con excelentes fotografías y alguna breve indicación sobre cada pieza. Las figuras que ilustran el presente trabajo están tomadas del citado catálogo. Agradecemos vivamente a la Dirección del citado Hotel, y más particularmente al presidente de la Derby Hoteles Collection, las facilidades dadas para el estudio de tan magnífico material.
