PERVIVENCIAS ROMANO-CRISTIANAS EN EL MUNDO POSTERIOR. EL MUNDO DE LAS CREENCIAS: CUEVAS, SEPULTURAS, MEZQUITAS
Abstract
Qalcat Naw is located in frontier territory and in these places a series of military-religious buildings, the Ribat, were built. The presence of ascetics and mystics in the arrnies and in the thugur of the frontiers is frequent since the beginning of Islam. Therefore, we believe that near the religious space studied, the Church-Mosque, there are a series of caves, some previous to the Islamic period, whose original functions were various: latomias, sepulchres, dwellings, etc. At one point their use was probably closely related to the described building. This brings to light the survival and adaptation of forms, customs and ideas of the Christian mysticism and its influence in the development of a great part of the Moslem mysticism, the Sufism.Downloads
