A bibliometric study of the research performance of Mexican mathematicians doctorated in the USA from 1980 to 1998
Abstract
The research performance of 64 Mexicans who obtained their Ph.D. in American universities from 1980 to 1998 was examined in order to determine the extent of brain drain. A variety of sources were used for this purpose: Dissertation Abstracts, MathSciNet, Science Citation Index Expanded and the Mexican National Researchers System database.
