Abstract

A new Internet resource which implies a new conception of web pages and sites seems to spell a revolution in the existing idea of service www provides in relation to its configuration and usage. However, what is most relevant is not the radical change in concept it carries, but the shift it provokes in users and usage. In particular, it is bound to happen in the personal sphere of professional users, of individuals as elements of the internet communities and of teaches as memebers of the teaching or research communities. From our perspective, as professionals and users of open and distance education supported in digital networks, weblogs are meant to have a leading role as hosts of learning communities in the field of training resources in the internet, paving the way for the creation of new and different learning environments. Actually, they are already a fact in certain cases, as we will later read. For its relevance, we are including two translated and adapted articles, based on originals written by Chris Ashley on this topic and its impact on the Interactive University- University of California-Berkeley.
