Relatos de viajes y peregrinación en la antigüedad tardía: La decadencia de la autopsia
Abstract
Uno de los géneros geográficos que más se cultivarían entre los intelectuales cristianos fueron los relatos de viajes como motivo de una peregrinatio, pero poco tienen que ver con el género que durante siglos fue cultivado por los intelectuales grecorromanos2 . El viaje para los autores griegos era un método de búsqueda, una conditio sine qua non para atestiguar la autopsia, pero rara vez era motivo por sí mismo para una obra. Lo importante eran los datos que el autor había recogido durante el viaje, no sus vivencias o el viaje en sí.
