Abstract

Research, the key to development, is nowadays a profession whose practitioners require creativity, discipline, devotion and, most of all, training. Latin American and Caribbean countries need to develop their research communities in order to carry out high impact and steady research over a period of time. Therefore, higher education institutions must train human resources for the development of scientific activity in the field of library and information science, by taking into account that students learn how to do research during the research process itself
