Abstract

This study presents an activity carried out in the course "Managing the Family Business." This activity is developed using different teaching methodologies related to the European Higher Education Area, such as: the lecture, case studies and cooperative learning, combining these methods with a comparative analysis within business and the in-depth interview technique. The main objective of the activity is to bring the student closer to our business reality, in which 85 percent of businesses are family owned. It is expected that students cooperate and share experiences for a few hours with a real family business, in order to know how they work and be able to apply the theory studied in class. Moreover, since the students have to search information related to the company chosen, develop a real interview with a manager and write a final report, this work will probably wake up their interest on research.
