Résumé

El texto se centra en la discusión epistolar que Isabel de Bohemia y Descartes entablaron entre 1645 y 1646 a propósito de la vita beata. Para el filósofo, esta depende únicamente del libre albedrío y enlaza con una acepción precisa de generosidad que interioriza la fuente del valor moral remitiéndola a la capacidad de juzgar bien. La princesa sostiene al respecto una actitud escéptica que cuestiona el intelectualismo de acento estoico de su interlocutor y lo expone al contraste de la propia experiencia. Su posición se acabará de perfilar recurriendo al final a la menos conocida correspondencia que como abadesa de Herford mantuvo con algunos líderes cuáqueros entre 1676 y 1679. En ambos contextos, Isabel de Bohemia enfoca una mirada crítica que advierte la condición situada de la subjetividad y las fugas de soberanía que impone constantemente la existencia y sus impensadas circunstancias.
