El siglo V en el Valle del Ebro: arqueología e historia
Abstract
The generalized désintégration of the Western Roman Empire in the fifth century is contrasted here with the simultaneous regional evolution in the middle part of the valley of the Ebro. There existed a complete syntony between the local History and the Universal History. On the other hand the data arqueológica! has been incorporated as a source of information histórica, especially the information provided by the excavations carried out in the late Imperial enclave of Vareia (Logroño, La Rioja). The study reveals the extreme degradation in which the humiliores of the region lived during this century.
