‘De laude et deploratione Spanie’ (estructura y fuentes literarias)
Abstract
En el prólogo al tomo 11 de la Historia de E.spaña (Madrid, 1935) D. Ramón Menéndez Pidal realizaba un amplio recorrido por la visión que de España habían tenido los diversos escritores de la antigüedad a partir de Estrabón, visiones que, asépticas o parciales en un primer momento, llegan posteriormente a convertirse en auténticos panegíricos en los que sus autores ensalzan sobremanera el suelo hispánico. Esta tendencia culmina en el famoso Prólogo de S. Isidoro a su Historia Goíhorum, conocido como De laude Spaniae, punto y arranque de toda una tradición nacional española. (...)
