La condición de viuda en el mundo visigodo a través de las actas conciliares
Abstract
A lo largo de los distintos concilios hispanorromanos y visigodos afloran una serie de cánones dirigidos a la mujer viuda. Otros, de forma indirecta, aluden a esta condición de la mujer y nos ayudan a desvelar la imagen que de ellas tenía la Iglesia. La mujer viuda será tratada en los cánones conciliares de manera específica y la Iglesia la distinguirá, claramente, de las demás mujeres. Según san Isidoro, "viuda es la que no ha tenido dos maridos ("vires dúo") ni se unió en matrimonio con otro a la muerte de su primer cónyuge. La que muerto su primer marido volvió a casarse, no es viuda". (...)
