Archeologia e agiograpia sulla basilica di San Vigilio en Trento
Abstract
In this article a systhesis is made of the problems of interpretation presented by the Basilical church of St. Vigilius in Trent, excavated in depth in 1964 and during the following years. The character of martyrial church it presents, situated in a site which did not pertain to the Episcopal residence, is explained by its cult to the three apostles of Anaunia, where St. Vigilius was also buried. This illustrates the martyrial cult and the «
ad sanctos» burial that in the time of St. Ambrosius had been practised in Milan and that also been carried out in Verona, Vicenza, Padova, etc.
