CODING SPEED IN SPECIFIC READING RETARDATION
Abstract
In order to investigate the implications of early visual coding processes in reading acquisition, a sample of 40 specific reading disabled children and other 40 normal readers (aged 6 to 9) was selected. The subjects participated in an informatized backward visual masking task to record the visual information transfer speed from iconic to working memory. The poor readers showed a more slow transfer rate than their controls. Finally, the results are linked to the poor spatio-temporal resolution hypothesis of visual coding processes in specific reading disability, hypothesis such as the Breitmeyer and Ganz's multichannel theory (1976).Downloads
