Abstract

The article shows the status of accessibility in tourist areas, presented as the theme of accessible tourism and tourism for all as a recent phenomenon in Spain and Catalonia. The study states that little attention has been paid to the subject from the field of tourism studies and since there are a number of groups that want to enter with full right to enjoy leisure and tourism activities. Catalonia presents recent initiatives to adapt their infrastructure to the groups with disabilities and / or special needs. The article reviews the most relevant cases and shows how in France there is already a national brand, which recognizes the appropriate tourist offer and how tourism can be a product accessible to rise in coming years.
