Abstract

This article shows a research on reading ability using the methodology of error analysis in oral reading. Thus, 342 por readers of 1st and 2nd grade of Primary Education participated in the research process. The tool employed to analyse reading errors was a reading errors inventory, the TIDEL (Secadas y Alfaro, 1998), using a profile technique to describe the type of reading.

Results showed that reading development proceeds through four reading phases: elemental (complexity), symbolic (linking symbols), semantic (meaning anticipation) and reading phase (reading skill).
