Abstract

In this article we defend a conception of the counselor as someone who investigates action. Program evaluation is a means to obtaining information that enables us to act upon the system and its components (both material and human) and to change it. Practitioners should be not just consumers of research results but also producers. To that end we propose a number of analogies between the stages corresponding to the good practice of counseling and those corresponding to achievement research.
