Leisure and approaches to learning in nursing students Abstract
Abstract
In the present study the relationship between perception of free time and leisure and approaches to learning of university students was analyzed. A survey was carried out in which 210 students of Nursing Studies of the University of León (Spain) took part. The starting hypothesis was that students who predominantly use a deep approach would believe to have less leisure time than those with a more superficial approach, due to the competitive nature of both activities. We used the Free Time and Leisure survey (ETLO in Spanish) and the limited version of two factors (R-CPE-2F) of the Processes of Study questionnaire to collect data. The results supported the proposed hypothesis; there were gender differences both in the use of free time and in approaches to learning. The results are discussed in this article and guidelines are given for practical application.
