Abstract

Since Christopher Alexander defined the design patterns and the pattern language, their application has been extended from the original architectural field to other ones such as software engineering and pedagogical. The increasing number of online courses requires teachers giving a suitable answer to these new pedagogical problems of the virtual learning environment, previously solved. This paper analyzes the design patterns and the pattern language, specifically in pedagogical field. It outlines the importance of having a pedagogical pattern language for virtual learning environments. Thus teachers could have a pedagogical tool for the specific features of the virtual education.
