New Horizons in Healthcare Education: Exploring the SIMOONS Online Simulation Platform
Abstract
Online simulation is transforming healthcare education by providing an immersive and meaningful virtual environment for the development of technical and non-technical skills. This unique case study investigates the SIMOONS virtual simulation platform in the context of non-technical skills training for diverse healthcare professionals. The platform's functionalities, didactic specifics of online simulation, and the results in terms of participants' reactions and learning perception in the eTEAMS program are detailed, a cross-sectional program for healthcare education focused on improving non-technical skills. Results demonstrate that SIMOONS offers an effective alternative for recreating virtual learning environments with virtual patients. Additionally, participants emphasize that virtual simulation provides safe and participatory learning, comparable to face-to-face learning, allowing for effective feedback for transfer to clinical practice.
