Abstract

In the mid 90's, a process of virtualization started at universities with the gradual inclusion of ICT related to mediation by computers and computer networks in Higher Education. The aim of this report is to give the final results of the research project "Information and CommunicationTechnology and Educational Innovation for the Knowledge Society. The Case of the Social Communication Program. In this projet, we intended to show ICT is included in teaching designs and their impact on educational practices of teachers and students. The case study has been approached from an interpretive way that has allowed us to articulate quantitative and qualitative research. In a first stage, we have carried out surveys, content analysis of blogs, social networks, educational platforms and in-depth interviews. The research allowed us to build a map of the impact of this process of innovation that let us show changes in traditional roles, their structures and the process of teaching and learning in educational environments virtualized using ICT.
