Abstract

Besides the three-fold profile a professor must have (teaching, management and research), he should also have a major control of electronic databases. At least, this it should be the case in order to have accesss to trustworthy documentation for the use of his research and teaching. The aim of this study is to evaluate how much a series of electronic databasis are known and used by part of the faculty at the University of Huelva. According to the obtained results, we determined whether it is necessary to propose lines of work for improvement. An instrument has been designed to obtain the necessary information so as to detect existing lacks. The quantitative sample consisted in 6 professors from each of the 9 schools at the University of Huelva, so as to reach 54 voluntary surveyed participants. Finally, we could confirm that it is still necessary for the faculty to receive more information on how electronic databases can be used to obtain information for his benefit.
