Abstract

This paper aims to present a report on the implementation of learning objects as a technological tool used in the administration of instructional technology and distance education. It identifies three definitions of which one is considered the most accepted by emphasizing the relationship between the object as an educational resource and the learner. It gives an overview of the effectiveness of reusable learning objects (RLO's) and their attributes in various contexts. A model of contextualization in three levels called Campus Content that supports educators to share, and reuse jointly develop learning materials and pedagogical knowledge. It also identifies how resources are concentrated in the repositories of learning objects for their two types - those that contain the learning objects and their metadata and containing only the metadata, it is also mentioned the best known initiatives of both repositories as interoperable networks. Finally, it provides an overview of the state of the art instructional design patterns.
