Abstract

Homer represents the beginning of European Literature. Its influence has not only been reduced to the Greco-Roman tradition, but it continues to be a source of study, debate and inspiration today, far exceeding the field of literature, thus becoming an indispensable reference for historical, philological, archaeological, anthropological and artistic studies. . For years there has been a debate between two clearly differentiated positions about the historicity or not of the events related by the blind poet. In this article we want to elucidate to what extent the society described by Homer is attributable to the Mycenaean society that Archeology and the Linear-B tablets have shown us, which would offer us significant information for understanding not only the period Mycenaean, but also for the analysis of the time that Homer lived.
