Author Guidelines

Panta Rei is composed by original studies related to History and History Teaching. The different sections of this journal are:

  • Research articles about History and History Teaching (no teaching experiences).
  • Interviews to professionals.
  • Reviews or recensions on monographs about current issues and reports about congresses or relevant scientific events.

Any proposals should be written in English or Spanish. The ethics of each section  can be consulted in Publication Ethics

Submission and presentation of originals

To send your proposal, it is important to follow the next guidelines:

  • The author is commited to submit original papers not having been published in other journals or in other languages. In this way, it is not allowed for the same paper to be presented in other journals during the evaluation process.
  • The articles will be exclusively submitted by OJS.
  • The proposal uploaded to the system should follow the specific template of the journal. Specific guidelines regarding the contents, structure and layout of the proposal can be found within text of the template.
  • The length of the papers must not exceed 25 pages.
  • Remember to upload an anonymized version of the text. Only if the piece is accepted for publication, a non-anonymized version of the text will be requested from the authors.
  • If the proposal is a book review it is necessary to follow this template.

Before sending the proposal, please check if it follows the suggestions made by the editorial team in the Suggestions for authors. The unfulfilment of any of these requests can cause the rejection of the proposal by the Editorial Board.

Examination and assessment process.

Once your proposal has been uploaded, it will be subjected to the next evaluation process:

  • Upon receiving submissions, the editorial board makes an initial evaluation. If the submitted study does not fit the suggested guidelines for submissions, the subject matter is not appropriate with that of the journal, and the research does not possess the necessary scientific quality, it will be rejected and the evaluation process will end.
  • Every proposal received by the journal (independiently if it is a research article, an interview or a review) will be evaluated by the Editorial Board. Only the research articles that surpass this first evaluation will be submitted for a double-blind peer review.
  • Once surpassed this first evaluation, the proposal will be remitted to the advisory board, who will indicate the originality and relevance of the research. Once this first anlysis is developed, two outside experts will be designated to review the papers (double-blind peer). These experts can be (or not) part of this Advisory Board. The selection of the experts will adjust to the subject and methodological characteristics of the paper.
  • Name and affiliation of the author will be eliminated from the text for its review, in this way, experts will act anonymously and confidentially.
  • The experts will fill an assessment report which will focus on aspects such as formal characteristics, originality and novelty of the papers, relevance and results of the proposal, methodological quality and scientific validity.
  • The receipt of two negative reviews will result in the rejection of the submission (check Acceptance and/or rejection decision).
  • Once the process is finished, the assigned editor the acceptance or not of the papers will issue a final report (in the form of a checklist) based on the peer reviewers comments and suggestions, which will include the modifications that may be made for its final publication.
  • The final acceptance of the paper is conditional to the incorporation by the author/s of the suggestions made by the Editorial Board and peer-reviewers. The author/s should send an argued answer about the suggestions made by the reviewers (by means of a Comments and Answers Table, i.e.).
  • It is estimated that this final report (with the acceptance or rejection of the proposal) will be received by the autor within 6 months (maximum) (consult Editorial Process).

Publication and authorship

It is important to highlight the next aspects regarding the authorships and publication of the proposal:

  • Author commits to send original papers, which are not published in other journals or other languages.
  • The same paper could not be presented in other journals during the process of evaluation. If the author of a paper might want to include (partially or completely) the said paper in other journal, the data of the original journal must be clearly noted.
  • In the same way, the author guarantees the veracity of the data used and the originality of the information released, with the author held responsible for the above.
  • We also remind that Panta Rei will not publish multiple submissions by the same author until a minimum of 24 months have passed since the publication of their previous submission.
