Factores socioecológicos y de género asociados a la práctica de actividad física extraescolar en alumnado mexicano: un análisis multinomial

Resumen
La inactividad física constituye un problema de salud pública cada vez más frecuente durante la niñez y la adolescencia. La actividad física de familiares y pares, las diferencias de género y las características del entorno escolar pueden relacionarse con la participación habitual. Los objetivos fueron describir la actividad física percibida de los tutores y del grupo de pares, la frecuencia de actividad física extraescolar dentro y fuera de la escuela y las percepciones de seguridad y pertenencia escolar; analizar las diferencias por género; y examinar los factores asociados con la frecuencia de práctica en el centro después de las clases. Se desarrolló un estudio cuantitativo, no experimental, transversal y asociativo mediante un cuestionario aplicado a 803 escolares mexicanos de 5º y 6º de Educación Primaria. Se realizaron análisis descriptivos y bivariados y una regresión logística multinomial con 770 casos completos. El 43.1 % no practicaba actividad física extraescolar en el centro después de las clases y el 28.5 % no la practicaba fuera de la escuela. Las niñas presentaron una menor frecuencia de práctica que los niños. El género, el número de amistades físicamente activas y la autocalificación académica contribuyeron significativamente al ajuste global del modelo; la pertenencia escolar mostró una asociación específica con la práctica superior a tres veces por semana. El modelo presentó una capacidad explicativa modesta (R² de Nagelkerke = .132). Los resultados respaldan programas extraescolares sensibles al género que faciliten la incorporación del alumnado con redes de pares menos activas y promuevan su vinculación escolar.
