Abstract
El objetivo de esta ponenciao es poner de relieve la problematicidad y las tensiones que marcan la vida del pueblo visigodo durante las largas décadas que marcan su estancia en el mundo romano hasta el foedus establecido con Walia. Entendemos que las mentalidades y actitudes forjadas en esa época serán decisivas para acontecimientos posteriores, y la falta de atención que prestan a tal momento las exposiciones de conjunto'-» nos han movido a intentar estas reflexiones Y entendemos además que una perspectiva de indagación sobre los elementos y rastros institucionales, contribuirá a conocer algo más sobre la personalidad y también sobre el más arcaico sistema de gobierno visigótico docurnentable en fuentes griegas y romanas.
