Abstract

The concept of teaching foreign languages for specific purposes is a complex issue since it is always difficult to establish its definition and limits as well as the most convenient approach to deal with the teaching-learning process. In Translation and Interpreting studies it is also a fundamental notion which must be considered according to the main aim of the first years of the degree: to enable students to use those languages in order to accomplish the translation process successfully. This approach determines the structure and the contents of the sessions on foreign languages. After that, and taking into account the training in specialized translation, the process must be focused on the acquisition of expert knowledge and on the use of terminology and grammatical elements in each language in specific fields.
