Abstract
This new edition of RIITE Revista Interuniversitaria de Investigación en Tecnología Educativa includes a special section on DIGITAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP. In this introductory article of the section we present a conceptual analysis of this competence and theoretical models to describe it as well. We analyse conceptions and models of entrepreneurship competence and digital competence to build the pillars of digital entrepreneurship competence. This information will be useful to understand the relevance of digital entrepreneurship competence in the training of future professionals as future citizens of the 21st century. Furthermore, it is introduced the EmDigital research project, developed with a mixed research method which combines the use of questionnaires and interviews. Its most relevant results are mainly a model of digital entrepreneurship (called EmDigital), the success keys of digital entrepreneurs based on an analysis of good practices, a descriptive analysis of the university students’ self-perception of their own digital entrepreneurship competence and, finally, an open online training course.
