RiiTE Journal Submission Guidelines

RiiTE is an open-access electronic journal established with the aim of promoting and sharing research advances in the field of Educational Technology. Our objective is the dissemination of research across the various stages of the process, providing visibility to projects (both funded and non-funded), studies, interviews, and book reviews related to the field.

1) STRUCTURE AND PRESENTATION OF ARTICLES

Accepted file formats are ".doc" or ".docx". The length of the manuscripts must be between 5,000 and 6,000 words, including all sections except for the references. Systematic reviews may extend up to 8,000 words, excluding references.

Articles must comply with the guidelines presented in this template. The text must be written in Arial 11 pt font; first-level headings in Arial 12 pt; and second and third-level headings in Arial 11 pt. Manuscripts must be submitted in DIN A4 size (21.5 cm x 27.9 cm)*. Figures and tables must be centered, included within the body of the article, and follow APA standards. Graphs, diagrams, and tables must be presented in a non-image format (editable) to facilitate subsequent modifications during the layout process if necessary. Notes must be numbered consecutively, placed as footnotes in 9 pt font, justified, with a 6 pt spacing between paragraphs. Bibliographic references are not accepted as footnotes.

Manuscripts may be written in Spanish or English (or both), at the authors' discretion. The title, abstract, and keywords must be provided in both languages.

Author Information (Separate File) The following information must be provided in a separate file:

  • Full name, email address, and affiliation (institution of regular employment) of all authors.

  • Unique ORCID identifier for each author.

  • A brief curriculum vitae (maximum 200 words) indicating the academic and professional profile, main lines of research, and links to personal websites, blogs, or other social media.

This file must be uploaded to the platform during the submission process by selecting the "Author Data" option (upload submission/article component).

Author Contributions For every new submission, the author contribution declaration form must be completed (download form). This file must be uploaded to the platform during the submission process by selecting the "Contribution Declaration" option (upload submission/article component).

Manuscript Structure Each contribution must include:

a) Title: Must be concise and precise, indicating the content of the work with a maximum of 20 words.

b) Abstract: Must be written directly, specifying key methodological aspects and emphasizing the most relevant results and conclusions. It must follow the IMRaD structure (Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion). Length: 200–300 words. (The English Abstract must be a faithful translation of the Spanish Resumen).

c) Keywords: Following the abstract, authors must present and identify 5 keywords to facilitate article analysis by documentalists. Whenever possible, keywords should be selected from the ERIC Thesaurus.

d) Introduction: Must be confined to a literature review that is focused on the topic, up-to-date, and directly related to the research, facilitating the final discussion. The number of references used should range between 30 and 40. It is recommended that the majority of references be articles published in indexed journals.

e) Method: This section may be organized into different subsections (objectives, participants, research approach, procedure, etc.) as justified by the research approach and study design.

f) Results: Must contain precise information regarding the data and the main results of the study or analysis. Charts, diagrams, and graphs must be self-explanatory, referenced in the text, placed as close as possible to the related text, and numbered with Arabic numerals in consecutive order.

g) Conclusions and Discussion: Analysis of the main results in relation to the problem and the objectives or hypotheses. Interpretation of the findings in relation to previous research. This section should explain the significance of the results considering available evidence. Additionally, potential limitations of the study and future lines of research must be included.

h) Links: Various resources (video; visual resources such as infographics, presentations, etc.; the full document if published in a repository; a URL for the project, if applicable). A LINK to the full version of the data collection INSTRUMENTS is mandatory to facilitate research replication, as well as persistent links to the repositories where the data used for the research is housed, thus contributing to Open Science.

i) Acknowledgments or Funding: If acknowledgments are necessary, they should be placed here at the end, immediately before the references. This is not mandatory, except in the case of funded projects, where the corresponding information (PI, name, funding entity, etc.) of the project from which the article is derived must be indicated.

j) References: APA style, based on the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 7th edition (http://www.apastyle.org/). Please ensure that DOIs are included, especially for articles. To verify if a reference has a DOI, we suggest searching at http://www.crossref.org/guestquery/.
