Training, teaching experience and attitudes of teachers of childhood and primary education towards schooling immi¬grant children in spain
Abstract
This article is the result of a study carried out in the Department of Teaching, School Organisation and Research Methods of the University of Vigo (Spain). Our aim was to find out how training and teaching experience of teachers influence or may influence the development of positive attitudes towards inclusive teaching practices with regard to immigrant children. In this article we first introduce the theoretical background of attitudes, training and educational experiences, in which concepts are defined and likely approaches and multicultural education models that form the basis of teachers´ intercultural attitude are discussed. We then outline the most outstanding points of this study: formulation of objectives, hypothesis, variables, questionnaire used, and sample under study. After analysing the results obtained, four conclusions lead us to a proposal of improvement of current teaching processes and guidance in Spanish schools.
