La teatralidad bifronte de Francisco Benítez (Tragedia y farsa en el "Pergamino de la historia de Francia")
Abstract
The last play (2001) published by Francisco Benítez (Córdoba, 1944) represents the summit of a twofold theatricality, where realism and an imaginative and fantastic type of drama alternate and blend together. We can find in the Pergamino de la historia de Francia some of the central topics in Benítez’s work: the search of identity, the conflicts between fathers and sons, the creative power of the imagination... An original conception of the scenic space and the recovery of some elements from a traditional theatricality, such as choruses or the use of verse form, make up a dramatic discourse combining the tragic and the grotesque.Downloads
