«Si amanece, nos vamos». Antonio Buero Vallejo y el teatro polaco
Abstract
The article discusses in detail the circumstances of the first Polish performance of a play by Antonio Buero Vallejo: El sueño de la razón at the Teatr na Woli in Warsaw, on 21th of March 1976, directed by Andrzej Wajda, with Tadeusz Łomnicki as Goya, and its social and political implications in Poland. Only two plays by Buero Vallejo has been translated and published in Polish: El sueño de la razón (1974) and El concierto de San Ovidio (1987). Nevertheless the mise-en-scène by Wajda is considered one of the best ever realizations of Buero’s plays.
