Abstract

Blended learning (b-learning) is a hybrid teaching model that combines traditional in person instruction with digital resources and virtual tools to enhance the educational experience. This study aimed to assess the perceptions and evaluations of students regarding the implementation of a diagnostic and case-based learning method in an elective course on Maxillary Pathology at the Faculty of Dentistry, National University of Tucumán (FOUNT). A total of 31 students participated in the course, which combined theoretical face-to-face classes with clinical case seminars (SC) and individual virtual activities on the Moodle platform. The final evaluation consisted of a group case-solving activity and an anonymous self-report questionnaire. This instrument explored students’ perceptions in four areas: Interest/Enjoyment (I/D), Perceived Competence (CP), Perceived Choice (EP), and Pressure/Tension (P/T). Additional questions addressed organization, challenges, access to the platform, and peer consultation. Results showed high levels of satisfaction and engagement: 100% of students passed the group and individual assessments. Mean scores were: I/D = 4.86 ± 1.4, CP = 4.58 ± 1.3, EP = 3.86 ± 1.8, and P/T = 4.73 ± 1.9. The main reported difficulty was the interpretation of microscopic images Despite this, the overall experience was positively rated, highlighting the effectiveness of b-learning in fostering active, collaborative learning and enhancing diagnostic competencies in a virtual and clinical context.
