Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, LibreOffice or Microsoft Word.
  • The file provided was written with the provided template; all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • Please, send the pdf file (including everything), as well as the original document (in word or odt) and the figures.
  • Whenever possible, provide URL addresses for the references or their corresponding DOIs.

Author Guidelines

- The authors need to register in the Journal to be able to make submissions, or if they are already registered they can simply identify themselves and start the 5-step process.

- The articles submitted for the consideration of their publication must be related to the editorial line of the magazine, Medical Education and may be:

   * Originals: original works, studies and research.

   * Reviews: critical and updated study on the literature or subject of interest for the discipline.

   * Short comments: on topics of interest or current affairs, will have a maximum length of 500 words. Free format.

   * Letters to the director: usually in relation to an article previously published by the magazine, the author shows his agreement or disagreement. Free format with a maximum of 300 words.

  * Student vision: Health Sciences degree students can send their experiences, comments, problems, solutions, etc., on any topic in relation to the training they receive at their centers. Free format.

  • All the works must be unpublished.
  • In the event that the work has been presented at any Conference, Congress or similar, in the letter of introduction to the Editor, the full name of the congress must be indicated, dates and venue, if presented as a poster, oral communication or presentation. And also if the summary has been published in the official book of the congress, page number, etc.
  • The publications that need it must include the evaluation of the respective Ethics Committee, recording the anonymity and confidentiality of the people involved in the investigation.
  • Use EQUATOR guidelines to improve manuscript quality. For example, if your work is an observational study (cross-sectional, cohort, case-control), it is highly recommended that you use the STROBE checklists. Use other checklists on the EQUATOR website for clinical trials (CONSORT), systematic reviews (PRISMA), qualitative studies (SRQR or COREQ).

Manuscript evaluation (peer review):

  • This journal uses a peer review system. The editor carries out a first assessment of the manuscripts to check that they fit with the objectives of the journal. If so, the manuscript is sent to at least two independent reviewers, external to the editorial, who evaluate its quality and propose its acceptance or rejection. This review is blind, which means that the reviewers are anonymous to the authors.
  • The time taken for the review and information to the author of its acceptance or rejection, will be between 4 and 6 weeks from its reception.

- The languages ​​used will be Spanish, Portuguese and English. Articles in other languages ​​may be accepted, provided they are accompanied by a complete translation into one of those two.

- The contents of the journal will be published online immediately upon acceptance and collectively will be part of a number.

- It is recommended that the papers in english are also sent in spanish. If you have problems with the translation, contact ceuem@um.es

Presentation of papers:

  • The authors have a template that must be followed in order to meet the requirements of the journal. In this template, all the text will be placed, as well as the figures and tables.
  • Once filled in completely, the authors will send a copy in word processor format (word, openoffice, libreoffice) and another one in pdf format.
  • Graphs and tables must be sent separately, in addition to included in the template document.
  • The submission must be accompanied by a letter to the editor, which briefly explains why you think your manuscript is suitable for publication in the journal, as well as explicitly indicate that the manuscript (or one with substantially the same content) has not been previously published in any language anywhere and is not under simultaneous consideration or in press by another journal. The cover letter must be sent by the corresponding author and contain all the important details such as full name, postal address, telephone and email, full title of the article, complete list of authors with their affiliations and email and number of attachments that are sent.

Los artículos no están sujetos a un formato especial y el/los autores pueden usar el formato habitual de la revista para los artículos o el de cartas al director.
