Abstract

This research uses the Merleau-Ponty´s analysis about mental illness to make some basic questions: which are the frontiers between normal and pathological, what kind of distortions does mental illness introduce and in which fields of existence, how to characterize the variations of the space-temporary behaviour to which we usually refer speaking about illness. I make a dialogue between Merleau-Ponty and others thinkers (especially Erving Goffman) and I articulate his concepts in a particular empiric research.
